(WXYZ) – The Food and Drug Administration is considering whether or not to place new warnings on liquid nicotine packets with e-cigarettes.
This is in response to an uptick in nicotine poisonings reported by emergency rooms and poison centers nationwide. Many of them are involving infants and children.
Federal officials are also considering making the packaging child-resistant, and it doesn’t stop there.
The agency also has concerns about new products hitting the market including dissolvable nicotine strips, lotions, and even gels and beverages.
Chief Health Editor, Dr. Partha Nandi, joined The Now Detroit to talk about how serious this may be.
